Thanks to the skeletonised handle, the knife weighs relatively little compared to other hunting knives. This premium knife is made in the US, in collaboration with TOPS Knives. This brand is known for their extremely robust knives designed for tactical, outdoor and survival applications. The Kasilof comes with a custom-made leather sheath.

Blade made of 1095 carbon steel
The blade of this fixed knife is made of 1095 carbon steel, and measures 9.8 cm in length. 1095 steel can be seen as a true veteran in the world of steel. It has been made and used for many years. It’s a tough type of steel that is easy to sharpen to a razor-sharp edge, even with limited resources. This makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use in the field: all you need is a simple sharpening stone to get your sharp edge back.
1095-carbon steel is not very corrosion-resistant. In fact, it discolours pretty quickly when it comes into contact with moisture and/or salt and acid. So clean the knife after use and give it a drop of oil every now and then. Over time, 1095 steel does form a patina. This makes it less susceptible to corrosion.
This blade is finished with a Cerakote coating. This is a popular coating also used for engine parts, for example. It is a very ‘tough’ coating. It has good impact resistance. Traces of use are therefore less likely to show up. However, it is also only a thin layer: eventually, you will always see signs of use.
Micarta handle
The handle of the CRKT Kasilof 3031 Cerakote 1095, Brown Micarta, fixed knife, Russ Kommer design is made of micarta. This is a composite material made of fabric and synthetic resin. If you look closely, you can see a subtle texture on the surface, sometimes it looks almost like wood. This material is strong and stable, and it’s very grippy.
