This ammo by Federal is a great choice for hunting with a Swedish Mauser or other more modern piece of hardware. It’s loaded with a 140 grain soft point bullet made by Hornady. (While we haven’t yet measured this round’s muzzle velocity, we’d be surprised if it strayed too far from the 2,650 fps that’s conventional for its class.) When this bullet strikes soft tissue it will flatten out and subsequently begin tumbling around – even after having traveled for hundreds of yards. That’s decisive terminal performance which will gound any buck with the proper aim behind it.
This round takes care of ignition with a non-corrosive Boxer primer and payload of clean burning propellant. Federal’s resilient brass makes a very fine choice for handloading, which is especially nice when you’re talking about a harder to find cartridge like 6.5x55mm.
