The matted blade is made from 440A steel with a black coating. This type of steel is renowned for not staying sharp for a super long time, but this is compensated by the fact that 440A is incredibly tough. As a result, it won’t break easily during heavy jobs, and it’s easy to sharpen. In practice this means that you have to do a little maintenance regularly, so you always have a sharp knife with you.
Böker Magnum Black Spear II handle
The handle of this knife is made from aluminium. This also has a black coating. The gigantic backspacer on the back of the handle has a glass breaker. This even makes light work of double-glazed glass.
