Böker and Brent claim: thicker is better! No one knows that better than US knife designer Brent Michael Smith of Bald Man Knife & Tool. He personally balanced the material thicknesses of the Böker Plus Thicker Clipper perfectly for heavy-duty work. This knowledge and expertise did not come out of the blue: Smith has more than 20 years of professional experience in the automotive and motorbike industry. The knife has an impressive blade thickness of 5.6 mm, which allows this compact beast of a knife to excel in more demanding cutting tasks, for example garage work.
The sleek full-tang design features a sturdy tanto blade with a cool blackwashed finish. The ergonomic handle, blade shape and jimping on the back of the blade ensure powerful, controlled and precise cutting. This knife comes with a sturdy kydex sheath with belt clip.

Blade made of D2 steel
The blade of the Böker Plus Thicker Clipper 02BO601, Blackwashed D2, Burlap Micarta, fixed knife, Brent Michael Smith design is made of D2. This is a tool steel that has been used for all kinds of cutting tools since World War II. It is tough, easy to sharpen and retains its sharpness very well. Do take care around moisture and acids; D2 is not entirely stainless. It may discolour or even rust if not properly taken care of. Therefore, it’s important to clean and dry the blade after use, and a drop of oil every once in a while can’t hurt.
The blade features a blackwashed finish. For this finish, the blade is first finished with a coating, then tumbled. This makes the blade look like it has been around for a while, kind of like jeans. A big advantage of this is that traces of use will be much less noticeable.
Micarta handle
The handle of the Böker Plus Thicker Clipper 02BO601, Blackwashed D2, Burlap Micarta, fixed knife, Brent Michael Smith design is made of micarta. This is a composite material made of fabric and synthetic resin. If you look closely, you can see a subtle texture on the surface, sometimes it looks almost like wood. This material is strong and stable, and it’s very grippy.
