Opening the Fox Knives Honos FX-538 G10B, Stonewashed Becut, Black G10 pocket knife, Bastinelli design is incredibly fast thanks to the frontflipper, which allows for single-handed operation. Using a frontflipper takes a bit of practice, but once you’ve got it down it’s really efficient. The pocket knife is equipped with phosphor bronze washers making opening and closing nice and smooth. Once opened, the liner lock ensures that the knife is locked and will not accidentally snap shut.
Blade made of BECUT steel
The blade of this Fox is made of BECUT steel. This is a stainless type of steel with an excellent price-quality ratio. BECUT steel is designed for applications where both good edge retention and corrosion resistance are required. Due to its outstanding properties, BECUT is frequently used in the medical and food industries.
The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.
Micarta handle
The handle of this Fox Honos & Fides is made of micarta and measures 10.7 cm in length. Micarta is a great material for pocket knife handles. This material is grippy, relatively lightweight and it looks very cool. It is composed of fabric fibres and synthetic resin. The resulting layers often even make micarta look a bit like wood. However, it is a very stable and strong material.
