1/17/23 – This is a very nice example of a Springfield M1 Garand issued to the US military in 1942. The receiver dates to about September of 1942. The barrel is Springfield marked and dated July of 1947. There is a cross-canon cartouche and inspection stamp on the left side of the stock. “P” stamp on the wrist. There is also a faint “RA” marking on the right side of the butt stock, indicating it was reworked at the Raritan Arsenal. There is wear around the muzzle, thinning along the whole barrel, minor wear on the high edges of the receiver, and minor thinning on the floor plate. There is no major damage to the wood, but there are small dings and bruises throughout. An area of more noticeable scratching on the underside of the butt stock. Mint bore. Muzzle reading: 4.
