10/12/22 – This is a Springfield M1 Garand sold to the public as a part of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). It comes with an original matching-number CMP certificate and CMP and matching-numbered CMP hang tag. The receiver dates to 1945. The barrel is marked SA and dated 1953. This gun is considered “Rack Grade”. There is not a lot of actual finish loss, but there are tiny spots of minor pin-pricking on the receiver, brown patina along the barrel, and noticeable finish loss and light spotty oxidation on the floor plate / trigger group. The stock is in nice condition, but there is noticeable bruising on the upper and front handguards. The condition of the front hand guard, upper hand guard, and stock do not match. Tiny crack in the upper hand guard against the receiver. There is a stamped rack number on the underside of the butt stock. The bore is shiny with strong rifling, but there is an area of light oxidation about halfway down the barrel.
