2/3/23 – This is an original WW2 Type 30 bayonet by National Denki, also known as Matsushita. The bayonet is a variation E, LB-106 in Labar’s book. The early bayonet features a bright, fullered blade, hooked cross guard, bird’s head pommel, and contoured wrap-around wood grips. This example comes with an early style ball tipped metal scabbard and a leather frog, as shown. The blade is in great overall condition despite some surface speckling and discoloration throughout. The edge appears unsharpened beyond the original factory sharpening. The hilt area has finish loss and thinning as well as dark surface patina throughout. The wood grips are excellent. The scabbard has surface wear and patina throughout with one very mild dent. The frog is missing the front leather secure strap, but is otherwise in great condition.
