2/23/22 – This is a scarce Springfield 1903 National Match Sporter rifle that is documented by serial in Brophy’s book on Springfield 1903 Rifles as part of a small batch of DCM sales for this variation.It features the correct W3L bolt, “C” stock with checkered buttplate and reverse safety headless cocking piece.From 1925-32, the DCM offered this variating with Lyman receiver sight base and star-gauged barrel.These barrels were actually special fitted with the same dimensions as the .22 barrels so as to fit these stocks.The barrels were made to National Match specifications, star-gauged and tested.These rifles were noted for showing remarkable accuracy, in some cases better than the regular NM rifles.This one has original bluing with a Springfield barrel, dated to April of 1930.Bore has good rifling but notable frost and freckling throughout.Excellent stock with hardly any handling wear.
