The WMF Gourmet 1876516030 pull-through sharpener is a stylish and practical way to keep your kitchen knives nicely sharp. The knife sharpener has 2 stages. One coarse stage to sharpen a blunt knife, and one fine stage to polish the sharp edge.
Using the WMF knife sharpener
If you sharpen a knife for the first time, you may need to adjust the sharpening angle of the knife to the sharpening angle of the sharpener. When using the sharpener on a knife for the first time, pass the knife repeatedly (20 to 50 times) through the knife sharpener’s first step to give the knife the same sharpening angle as the sharpener. Afterwards continue with the 2nd and 3rd stages to sharpen your knife properly. Once the knife has the right sharpening angle, you only have to pull it through the sharpener a few times in the future.
Make sure the sharpener is located on a stable surface. The non-slip studs provide you with additional safety as you sharpen your knives. Cover the blade with tape, just above the edge. This way you can prevent potential scratches on the blade.
Firmly hold the sharpener with your hand. With your other hand, place ‘the heel’ of the knife in the sharpener. With a straight movement, pull the knife towards the tip to sharpen the edge. Repeat this movement several times.
Tip: Pull the knife through ‘step 2’ before or after use. This way you will benefit from a sharp knife for a longer period of time, and you will postpone maintenance!
